We are Situated at the beautiful Earthworx Garden World on the corner of Valley Road and Victoria Road in Hout Bay, Cape Town. Our Large studio caters for up to 10 Students in one class. Adults of all ability are welcome. Students are encouraged to work at their own pace. View Fees and Term Date

Classes include:
Clay projects suitable to the students ability and enthusiasm from conception to finished item.
ALL basic pottery materials – Stoneware Clay, Slip colours, Underglaze Colours and white and transparent dipping Glaze.
Bisque firing to 1000 degrees
Glaze Firing to 1190 degrees

Pottery Studio Introduction Suitable for:
– Beginners and New Student Members
– Walk in Clay Play for younger supervised kids
– unaccompanied Teens from age 14 up
First timers and parent and Child friendly workshops to introduce the clay medium to absolute beginners. Hanging Decorations, Coasters. Seasoned potters can introduce friends to their favourite past time.

Functional Ceramics Suitable For:
– Intermediate Potters
– Past and Present students of Pottery at Earthworx or any Ceramic studio
Dabbled in clay before? Even first timers have had success!
Hanging Mobiles, Succulent Planters, table decorations, Platters and kids workshops and the the themed workshops mentioned above all cater for the new potter. Seasoned potters and artists are always welcome to join in.

Sculpture Suitable For:
– Artist wanting to experiment with new medium
– Intermediate Potters
– Past and Present students of Pottery at Earthworx or any Ceramic studio

Specialised Workshops for advancement in Ceramics by visiting potters Suitable for:
– Experienced Potters
– Past and Present Pottery at Earthworx students
Porcelain Jewellery (and silver), Mono printing and Make a Vase require some knowledge of working with clay.

Bespoke events catered to any level at a date and time that suits your group. Up To 10 can comfortably fit in the space but more can be accommodated if need be.

“Make it AND decorate it out of Clay”

Themed 2-3 hour Workshops are carefully curated to cater for each visiting individual and their abilities, from Novice To Expert. Items are fired and will be ready to collect from 4 weeks of the date of completion (load-shedding permitting) see some theme ideas here.

Some ideas of Themed workshops are Valentines Day, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Year end Fun

Quarterly open day workshops are a lovely way to drop in and say hi and if the mood takes you to make something to remember the day, visit the FaceBook Page for these events.

Hout Bay Social Pottery Initiative runs a weekly not-for-profit pottery class at Pottery at Earthworx in Hout Bay that encourages members of our diverse community to enjoy making things out of clay and interacting with others from all backgrounds.

Our aim is to provide skills to empower adults to recognise their creative potential and become artists in their own right. We would love to facilitate growth for individuals and assist them to become a thriving business using only their hands. We aim to source commissions, also there will be a space in our store to sell your goods and our intention is to create and run a successful market stall. All proceeds will go towards running costs and profit from sale of goods will go directly to the artist responsible for making the work sold.

Whilst The teachers are there to facilitate the sessions, the main aim of the class is for people to come together and enjoy an opportunity for creativity in the inspirational atmosphere of a studio, A place where people can share skills and ideas.
