Thank you to everyone and anyone who attended classes and workshops this year. Our Studio saw some amazing pieces coming out of our kiln.
We held a number of Student Workshops with the High School kids through the Dennis Goldberg House of Hope as well as Succulent Workshop and A mobile workshop. We began hosting a Tuesday Evening class which is going really well thanks to The Earthworx Garden World for allowing us the opportunity.
In July 2023 we launched the Tuesday evening classes with a bang. Places filled up immediately and we are looking to expand and offer another evening class.

Summer is almost upon us! Christmas trees, festivities and time to celebrate is here! We have lived through a transformation and we are a part of the journey into tomorrow. Lets Celebrate and commemorate the events that did matter, the events that changed us, the events that enlightened us, the events when we had fun and experienced rare moments of humanness.

A lunch if you need it. Roots farm Shoppe has a lovely wholesome menu if you get puckish.
Hand-building ceramic pots is a very rewarding and calming activity. Moulding soft clay into your very own creation. We will each create and decorate a pot to your liking using decorating slip and underglazes. We will bisque fire your pots when they are completely dry which can take a week in wet weather. thereafter we will glaze fire your pots to create a stoneware vessel that can withstand heat, all weather, water and obviously plants.

Clay doesn’t stain but don’t “dress up” or bring an apron. Mobiles will be fired and ready for collection after the 15th September. All materials will be supplied, Just Pitch and Play. We designed a short 5 session course aimed at the teens of the vulnerable communities of Hout Bay, namely Imizamo Yethu and Hangberg. In line with the vision of the Denis Goldberg House of Hope we aimed to share some basic art skills and hopefully inspire hidden artists within a community who would otherwise never be exposed to the likes of a privileged pottery class. The children are sponsored by the Denis Goldberg House of Hope Foundation which in itself as an incredibly inspiring asset to the Hout Bay Community.
The Holiday workshops are planned during the Public school holidays and Teens from either of the disadvantaged community are able to apply and attend at no cost. Toinette Lindley
Toinette’s journey with clay started twenty four years ago, she knew that she had found her medium of expression then. Over the years she has honed her skill as a potter by not only immersing herself in the process but by having had some wonderful teachers along the way. In her own words “ clay is marvelous, you never know everything and will spend your life as a student.”

Toinette joined Katie and Julie in September 2020 to extend the studio offering of more adult classes and a Childrens class. Toinette has had 20 years experience as a teacher of various grades in local schools. She has also successfully run school pottery programmes. Her love for kids is evident in her teaching style and her students are creating some amazing work. We are loving our journey together. In addition to the classes, Toinette offers some lovely workshops through the year. She has also run our Dennis Goldberg House of Hope Teens pottery workshop.
From her own studio in Hout Bay, Toinette creates a range of unique pieces ranging from bespoke tableware and jewelry to one – off works of art.

Covid:
What a year! We have been so very blessed this year to have endured this most challenging economic melt down. This is thanks to the flexibility of our landlord, Earthworx Garden World and the ongoing support of our students who attend our classes. We are so proud of the work that is being produced by students who began their potting journey as beginners in the humble workspace studio.
Please join us on Saturday the 14 November 2020 from 10:00 for some drop in short workshops. Toinette and Julie will facilitate some easy and fun workshops to end the year off with some festive creative spirit. We will have a number of projects to choose from catering to all ages and abilities.
